Hyogo Sport Association
- Brief Overview-
The Hyogo Sport Association is an organization established for the purpose of “improving the physical strength of people in Hyogo Prefecture, promoting the sound development of children and students, and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, thereby contributing to the promotion of sports, health, culture, and welfare in the prefecture”. It was incorporated as a public interest incorporated foundation in 2012.
The Hyogo Sport Association has a long history and tradition, celebrating its 94th anniversary this year since its predecessor, the Hyogo Athletic Association, was established in 1930. Currently, the association has a total of 103 member organizations, including 60 athletic organizations and the sport associations of 41 cities and towns in the prefecture.
Its main activities are divided into two categories: one is sports promotion, which includes sending athletes to the Japan Games (National Sports Festival), supporting the development of top athletes, finding and training junior athletes, training coaches, and other efforts to improve the prefecture's sports competitiveness.
The Hyogo Sport Association also promotes lifelong sports by holding prefectural sports tournaments and providing support to “Comprehensive Community Sports Club” and “Junior Sports Club Association”.

Facilities managedand operated by the HyogoSport Association
In addition, we are involved in the designated management of five prefectural sports facilities(“Ashiya Marine Center”, “Budo Hall (Martial Arts Practice Hall)”, “Kyudo Hall(Japanese Archery Range)”, “Maruyama River Park (Culture, Sports and Recreation Facility)”, and “Tokiwa Arena (Cultural Center and Gymnasium)”), as well as the operation of directly managed facilities (Tenno Dam Sports Garden: tennis courts and grounds). The other category of our business is food supply for school lunch and dietary education support program. We supply safe, high-quality school lunch materials and items to elementary and junior high schools in 41 cities and towns throughout theprefecture, and also conduct various inspections, including bacterial and foreign material tests.
In addition, we hold workshops to deepen the expertise of nutrition teachers, who are in charge of dietary education, and hands-on learning events for children and students about food, while also working to expand the supply of prefectural foodstuffs for school lunches (promoting local consumption of locally produced foodstuffs).
In addition to these projects, the Hyogo Sport Association is promoting a variety of sports, including urban sports and e-sports, improving athletic performance through digital transformation, and promoting sports tourism under its “medium-to long-termvision” formulated last year. In addition, by utilizing its strength of havingboth the sports and school lunch food supply businesses, we have begun to develop athlete food menus in cooperation with universities. In addition, weare actively involved in community and town development through sports.
We, the Hyogo Sport Association, although based on our history and traditions, are eagerly working to create new projects that meet the needs of the times towards the 100th anniversary of our foundation. We are trying to promote cooperation and collaboration among private companies, schools/universities, government, and citizens in the field of sports, and to promote the co-creation of projects that transcend sectoral boundaries. We hope you will look forward to the future of the Hyogo Sport Association!
